You want Fried Ham? I'll give you Fried Ham!
(that picture is not of any fried ham in MY kitchen, just so you know!!!)
By the way, my loving husband, you'll like this song since it mentions your favorite food group (yes, bologna!)
"Fried ham, fried ham, cheese and bologna. And after the macaroni, we shall have some pickles and pretzels and more fried ham fried ham!"
The joy of this song is that it can be sung in different "voices" like the opera lady, a cowboy, etc. Have fun, Love!

Fried Ham
I remember my sister, Erika, singing some song about "fried ham" I think. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was her. Anyway, my question is, what are the words to that song? I can only remember the last line, "Fried ham! Fried ham! Fried ham!" I believe those are the words. Thinking about that song makes me hungry. What for? You guessed it. Pizza! I love pizza! But not with olives and mushrooms. Or anchioves. I had anchioves before. They were disgusting and all salty. Yech! But other than that, I'm good. You might be saying, "I bet you don't like 'grass' on your pizza" or some such thing. Who serves grass on their pizza? That's a perversion! An abomination, if you will! I'm talking about normal toppings. So there. This is my post and there's noting you can do about it! Well, I guess you can have Sarah edit it. But I can always change it back! Anyway, can I get the words to that song? Thanks!

Bright Tailed and Bushy Eyed
After that wonderful post last night by Sarah, how can this one compare? It can't really. But it can offer you this: Um... well, er...
Okay. It can't offer you anything except this really cool link:
Relieve Some Stress
Go here! I recommend it to everyone!

Hooray! What a happy day!
Today has been a rainy, rainy day! How is that happy? I LOVE rain! I don't know why, but I always have. Maybe it's memories of swinging on our porch swing with my dad when it was raining. The swing faced out towards the street, and we would put our legs out straight so our bare feet would get wet as they went out from under the roof. I loved those giggly moments with my dad! Or maybe it's just so calming, clean and sweet-smelling . . .
Anyway, it is a happy day for other reasons. Mike got his notification from the US Postal Service today that he will be taking his test on September 14th at 9am. We are so excited to "get the ball rolling" on this one! Although we all KNOW Mike's patience is still perfectly intact, mine has been wearing thin with the delays from the post office. Mike is such a patient, long-suffering guy! God hand-picked him for me, that's for sure!
Yesterday was a great Labor Day. Secretly, I am just feeling a lifted burden of not teaching this year. Not that last year wasn't a great learning experience for me - it was. I am just relieved that I don't have those pressures this year! Anyway, we had a barbeque with my parents, Debby, Tote, Sammy and Grandmom Carter. It was a fun time. I made potato salad, iced tea and strawberry pretzel jello (Mom B - I'm gonna make that for you one of these days!!) We also had hamburgers, hot dogs, baby back ribs, cucumber salad, and cannolis. Yummy stuff! Of course, Sammy was the highlight of the day for everyone. What a little entertainer! He got us giggling many times (which gets him giggling, wanting to be in on all the laughter!) He is a delight!
Everything else is great - we ordered a new down comforter and blanket for our bed today. The down comforter we have is VERY OLD (one my grandmother had given me years ago). It really just needed to be replaced. We got SUCH an AWESOME deal on overstock.com. I can't wait for the package to arrive!!
Well, today was the start of school for most kids and teachers and men who sit in the office and go home whenever they wish (who in the world could I be referring to?!?! . . . ) So, hope it was a good one for all of you!!
Happy September!
*I always make my posts yellow, so you know right-off-the-bat that it's me writing. Well, as I made this one yellow, Mike was teasing me that I have no need to do that, since the title is "Hooray (exclamation) What a happy day (exclamation)." --all said it a mock-feminine voice! What a stinker he is, but I love him! He makes me laugh!

The joys of marriage
I love Sarah! Do you know what she did for me? She wrote me little love notes for me last night and hid them around the apartment for me to stumble upon! How sweet and wonderful is that? I can't explain how much I was touched by that! It's just wonderful! Just because I love her, I'll post a picture of us being very much in love! Later!
Recipe
So, here's the recipe that everyone is just begging and pleading for. Okay, maybe just Mom Barnhart has asked for it, but here it is anyway! Try it out!
Cheesy Corn & Potato Chowder
2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
1/2 cup diced carrots
1/2 cup diced celery
1.4 cup chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup butter
2 cups milk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 (15 ounce) cans whole kernel corn, drained
2 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Place potatoes, carrots, celery, onion and salt in a large pot with water to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Meanwhile, combine butter, milk and flour in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until smooth and thick. Pour milk mixture into cooked vegetables. Stir in corn and cheese until cheese is melted. Serve.
The recipe suggested serving in bread bowls. I'll have to try that next time! It would be great since it's thick enough to not soak through the bread too quickly! Yum!
Well, I hope you try that out! It was soo quick and easy! (Make sure you cut up the veggies into consistent sized pieces; and that you cook the flour/milk mixture until it is THICK - I almost undercooked it, but then I realized that it would be added to all the water you cooked the veggies in, so it has to be pretty thick to not get watery!)
Have a wonderful day!
